describes acts of mercy we are all called to do for God's children. These acts do not depend on wealth, ability, or intelligence; they are simple acts freely given and freely received by those in need.
Jesus says: "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it for me."
Following the guidance of Jesus, Children for a new Haiti/IAGSDev is focusing on how we can love every person and most importantly serve the needs of everyone we come in contact with. Such love for others not only glorifies God by reflecting our love for him but brings "hope for life" to every man, woman and child. Most importantly we desire to see the lives of children in Haiti change as we serve them.
Jesus asks for our personal involvement, will you respond?

Education for All
Educating the world's children, youth, and adults helps to break generational cycles of illiteracy and poverty.Nearly one-sixth of the world's population over the age of 15 cannot read or write. Over 50% of Haiti’s population is school age yet over half of the population is illiterate. 50 % of primary school age children are not enrolled in school. One-third of girls over six never go to school. Many children’s parents cannot afford the costs of education because the average family makes less than $2 a day. The government does not provide adequate funding for public schools and most families cannot afford the costs of private education. Approximately 30% of children attending primary school will not make it to third grade; 60% will abandon school before sixth grade.
In a country where rich becomes richer, and poor becomes poorer, many of these children face barriers to their education, such as conflict, exploitation. We strongly believe the best way to help fight poverty is to help the poor help themselves through educational opportunities. Through education all things are possible.
Nutrition
Nutrition has a dramatic global effect on the mortality and morbidity of children. It is estimated that under nutrition is the underlying cause of between 35 and 50 percent of deaths. It causes low birth weight of newborns; underweight, wasting, and stunting of children; and micronutrient deficiencies of mothers and children. In Haiti, half of children under 5 are malnourished. In rural areas, poverty and extreme poverty rates are estimated to be 84% and 69% respectively.
Next to education, nutrition is a central element of Children for a new Haiti / IAGSDev health strategy. We will work within communities to improve the nutrition of children and will prevent undernourishment through a variety of interventions.
Health Care
We will establish a program to invite medical volunteers from other countries to help in the community health center, where we will offer good quality professional medical services. We will encourage and/or help the local medical team to obtain training either in a medical institution and/or by other specialists that are partners with us. Please pray for the children and their families who have been affected by the latest disease (cholera). Also pray for Children for a new Haiti/IAGSDev staff as they provide ongoing support to the people of Haiti in the months and years ahead.
All DONATIONS are tax deductible - A receipt will be provided to you.
More than half the people in Haiti struggle to survive where 90% of the people live on less than $2 a day. These innocent children and families are all too familiar with the suffering caused by poverty which rob them of hope and threaten to steal their future.
Will you help lift a child in Haiti out of poverty? As a sponsor you will help provide access to lifesaving basics such as food, clean water, healthcare, and educational support. Sponsor a child in Haiti today.
